Hints & tips
Plain-English help from our Gas Safe Engineer: quick checks when the heating stops, what fault codes mean, and simple ways to cut your bills.
Open doors and windows. Don't use light switches, flames or anything electrical. Turn the gas off at the meter if it's safe to. Get everyone outside and call the free 24-hour National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
Boiler not working?
These only use the controls on the outside of your boiler. They sort out more problems than you'd think.
Please don't take the cover off or try to repair anything inside. By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer can work on gas appliances. Anything beyond these checks, call our Gas Safe Engineer.

No match. Check your manual, or call us and read the code out. We'll talk you through it.
Please note: codes vary between models and years, so always check your own user manual. These are general guides for common home boilers, not a repair manual. Only ever use the controls on the outside of the boiler. Never remove the casing: gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
